Item Description
5.5x7.25x7.25" tall nicely designed high quality radio, 1930s. This style radio by Emerson came in two different colors, black and cream and this is the latter. Has painted green accents on sides and front edge. On the front at each corner are attached aluminum triangular pieces, each w/different character image. These are Minnie, Pluto, Horace and Clarabelle. At bottom center is triangular attachment that reads "Emerson Radio And Television" along w/Walt Disney copyright. Also has nice diecut aluminum grill plate depicting Mickey playing a bass and behind this is the fabric speaker cover. Still attached to the back of the radio is serial number plate. We were not able to get this to work but it appears as if the internal parts are complete. The original fabric-covered electric cord is worn w/fraying. The speaker cover has a 1.5" split to the left of Mickey. The rubber covering on the underside feet has hardened and is missing. The two plastic knobs are original, each w/interior hairline or two, one w/.25" sliver edge chip. The four corner pieces w/images show some wear but characters remain distinct. Body has moderate scattered paint wear and chipping along edges but radio remains structurally sound and still displays nicely. Appearance for display remains VF. These radios are scarce and were quite expensive in their day for a child's radio. This is the first of this variety we've offered in many years. From the Hake collection.
