Item Description
11.25x12.75x3.75” deep box. ©1957 King Features Syndicates. One of the rarest character costumes, Lee Falk and Phil Davis’s 1934 comic strip creation was made by Collegeville. Childs Large size (12-14). Thin vacuform plastic mask shows Mandrake with his ever-present top hat. One of 2 different varieties, this is variety that shows mask without “Mandrake The Magician” name on hat band. Other variety came with just full body cape with 2 Mandrake images and his name. This variety comes with rayon full body suit with silk-screened image of Mandrake running with his cape flowing behind him. Also comes with shoulder cape. Image on body suit is also different from that of cape version. Suit remains free of splits though cape has a few faint stains. Costume appears unused as original Collegeville paper tag remains attached at neck. VF. Mask remains free of splits and is Exc. Box shows moderate wear with majority of original cellophane window missing and creasing/wear to box edges. VG+. Rare costume.
