Item Description
7-5/8x30.5” overall. © Clements 7997. U.S. Navy dirigible. Large crowd has gathered underneath airship to witness the scene. Photo was taken same month as airship was commissioned. On September 2, 1925 the Shenandoah encountered violent weather over southern Ohio, broke up in flight and was a total loss. Fourteen people lost their lives in the tragedy. Photo has lt. rippling and a few lt. handling creases. Emulsion has yellowed a bit but photo is still clear. Displays Fine. Shrink wrapped on foam core. A classic image.
