Item Description
This is one of two totally different varieties produced by Marx in which the box itself is also totally different. The variation of this toy is shown on page 132 of The Marx Toys Book by Maxine Pinsky published by Schiffer. 1950s. Box is lightly aged but remains tight. VF. Car is tin litho w/separate removable celluloid figure of Donald from the waist up. Size is 2x5x2.25" tall. Marked on each side "Roadrunner" and includes image of Donald on the trunk. Has working friction mechanism which also produces a siren sound. This is old store stock and even includes the original paper insert that the Donald figure was wrapped in although there are some minor defects worth noting. Donald has some small scattered traces of tan age spotting, car has some tiny scattered paint marks but remains totally glossy. Toy remains Exc. and essentially as issued.
