In the 1930s S. Maw & Son of London produced exquisite china Disney pieces, mostly figural toothbrush holders. This near-set is c. 1938. Snow White is 2x2.25x6" tall, each Dwarf is about 2.5x2.5x4" tall. All but one marked on underside "Genuine Walt Disney © Foreign." Set is missing Doc. Bashful has a rather unusual defect to his feet which almost seems to be as produced. Shoes were obviously once green and have been painted over in blue w/some additional clumps of bisque material on the top front surface of each. Whether factory done or otherwise, this is really only evident by the tiny traces of green color under areas where blue paint is removed. The other six have some soiling to interiors but outside appearance is exceptionally bright and clean w/just a couple of tiny color flakes or rubs. Set still retains an Exc. appearance for display. We are rarely able to offer these individually let along as a near-set.
