By New Haven Clock and Watch Company. .75x2.5x6” box with wonderful illustrations of Dogpatch characters has Abner laughing at top wearing wrist watch and Daisy Mae at bottom saying “Watch Th’ Movin’ Mule!!” Diagonal art through center features Mammy Yokum, Hairless Joe and Lonesome Polecat with mule at bottom right. Same box was used for 3 different Abner animated watches. Two dials featured flags while this third version has mule. Watch has 1.25” dia. metal case with smiling image of Abner looking down at mule’s head which is rocking backing forth as second hand. Has attached brown leather original band. Complete with price insert and warranty paper. Box lid has scattered wear and color rubs around edges with .25x3” bit of missing surface paper at right side of top center. Fine. Original leather band shows very little wear. Watch is running. Full luster. Dial is clean and Exc. Scarce with box. Great concept and wonderful design. From the Jerry Howell Jr. Collection.
