1930s. Set #4790 made by Stamper Kraft. 9.75x11x7/8” deep cardboard box has choice lid graphics of smiling Popeye stamping at picture of Olive Oyl as she stands nearby holding a picture of Popeye. Swee’ Pea is to the right holding a stack of blank sheets with Wimpy at far right holding a bag of hamburgers and eating one. On the floor are various stamps with character images with the Jeep on one. Contains a total of 12 die-cut wood blocks with rubber stamps on reverse. Characters include 4 Popeye, 2 Wimpy, 2 Olive Oyl, 1 Sweet-Pea, 1 Bluto and 1 Jeep. Comes with 4-page instruction folder and 3-3/8x8-7/8” pad of paper for use with printed example sheet on top designed like a comic strip showing Popeye, Wimpy, the Jeep, Olive Oyl and Swee’ Pea. Sheet has text at bottom “You Can Have Lots Of Fun Making Your Own Cartoon Strips With Popeye And His Many Friends.” Box has trace of lt. wear with color rubs around edges and corners. Fine. Stamps appear to have little use. VF. Folder and sample book are unused and VF. Nicely designed with choice lid graphics.
