Item Description
These buttons are 7/8” to 1” and the left button in the bottom row is the single litho while the others are celluloid. Group includes what is probably the very first “Buster Brown Shoes” button. This is a 7/8” of Buster in red outfit next to Tige who holds a large valise. Complete with its original backpaper by a maker whose name is covered by the celluloid but the city “Chicago” shows along with a patent date of “Apr 19, ‘04”
and very large text “Brown Shoe Co. Makers St. Louis U.S.A.” Next is another early 1” from the 1900s promoting “Buster Brown Blue Ribbon Shoes” also complete with its Brown trademark backpaper. In row 3 are 3 full color cartoon buttons c. 1920s for “Buster Brown Hose Supporter.” As made, these are without backpapers. Bottom row is a “Brownbilt Club” 1930s litho also with reverse shoe advertising plus finally a choice color 1” cello from the 1930s showing great image of Tige nestled against Buster’s cheek and captioned “Buster Brown Shoes.” This has its W&H backpaper. A group of classics in essentially Mint condition.
