Item Description
Smallest button is .75” and one we’ve never seen before featuring holly and berry wreath design dated 1918 surrounding Red Cross symbol. Trivial reverse oxidation but cello is essentially Mint. Second is more frequently seen 7/8” button with wreath surrounding cross with large 1918 date. This has a backpaper although printed off-center so just a pair of union bugs show. Third is rare and large 2-1/8” celluloid reading “Red Cross Christmas Roll Call/1918.” This has backpaper by W&H which has some scattered pencil lines. Celluloid has a very minor vertical lamination streak that catches reflected light but is quite minor and the piece has total full color and gloss. There is a pinpoint nick off the back edge by the collet and a pair of minor 1/8” and 3/8” cello splits but not causing any bumps on the side rim. We had an example of this button in Auction #196 with winning bid for the one piece close to $150.
