Item Description
Complete set of twelve 2x3.5” perforated cards that have been separated as intended. Issued by “Down Beat,” a music magazine devoted to “Jazz, Blues And Beyond.” Established in 1934, “Down Beat” included jazz critic reviews, articles on musicians/songs as well as a feature called the “Blindfold Test” in which a musician would listen to a record by another artist and try to guess who they are, as well as giving them a rating. Cards are bw photos that have been tinted green or orange and include Lee Morgan, John Coltrane, Bennie Carter, Red Mitchell, Joe Newman, Peter Appleyard, Billy Taylor, Cozy Cole, Pepper Adams, Monk Montgomery, Don Elliott and Bud Powell. Each card back features great biographies of each musician and includes list of “Representative Records.” Exc.
