Item Description
Item consists of a brass airplane with reverse pin. The wings read “World’s Fair Flight 1939/U.S.A./NX 18973.” From the nose of the plane is suspended a brass and enamel medallion featuring the Trylon and Perisphere logo along with the text “New York World’s Fair 1939.” The numbers on the airplane’s wing are those of a Super Electra which Howard Hughes and 4 crew mates took on a global circumnavigation flight leaving Floyd Bennett Field in New York on July 10, 1938 and returning on July 14. Minor loss of luster on the back of the medalet which is also marked “Official.” Luster on the front of both pieces is Exc. Scarce.
