Item Description
Non-adjustable size 8.5 ring marked on the interior “Sterling.” Side panels have eagle with spread-winged design while top oval is a dark blue enamel bkg. accented by rwb shield with dark brass outlining and accents including the initials “AEF.” This was the name for the United States Armed Forces sent to Europe in WWI. President Wilson appointed Maj. General John J. “Black Jack” Pershing as commander in May, 1917 (see item #870). By May, 1918, over one million U.S. troops were stationed in France, half of them on the front lines. This ring was likely purchased by a member of those forces as a memento. Tiniest bit of wear on the enamel, largely showing only with magnification. Scarce and Exc.
