Item Description
12x12x6” tall box with wood frame and paper/fabric covering has lid which lifts off to reveal the playing field. Front of box has metal plate reading “Jeu De Course” which translates as “Racer.” This plate includes image of jockey on horse and below this is company name “M. J. & C.” Also at this area is lever which activates the device. Mounted on top are metal decorative archways and at center is cup for placing bets. Other attachments include sign reading “But” and removable finish line flag. Attached to a revolving mechanism are 6 painted cast metal airplanes in different color schemes and numbered 1 through 6. Each has small pilot and separate manually movable propellers. Lever activates the planes which spin and whichever plane stops in front of the flag is designated the winner. Bets are placed on which plane that will be. Has all-over obvious wear and aging, especially to the lid and fabric-covered surface of the game area. Planes have darkening of paint and small scattered paint flakes. Overall still VG and the more desirable 6, as opposed to 4, plane version. Rare. A very interesting gambling device with much charm.
