Item Description
2.5x2.5x3.25" tall purple cardboard box contains pop-up figure of Donald mounted to a spring. Donald is celluloid depicted from the waist up and has movable arms plus white rabbit fur accent around his waist. Japan, 1930s. Below the Donald figure the spring is covered by paper with cardboard top and bottom panels. This piece was once glued to the bottom of the cardboard box but has come loose although for display purposes, it is better this way. This way you can display the figure in or out of the box and do not have to worry about causing it damage by pushing it down inside the box as intended for the purpose of a jack-in-the-box. Donald has a tiny bend at base of neck and minor indent on top of hat but remains Exc. for display. The cardboard box has noticeable fading of the purple color on two sides plus lid has pair of corner splits. Box still remains tight for display. A rare toy that was easily damaged due to its fragile nature. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
