Auction #201 - Part II
Item numbers 1409 through 3152 in auction 201
Item Description
1.25” c. 1940s showing Donald as English Grenadier guard, although the rifle over his shoulder is loaded with a cork rather than bullets. The button is captioned “Granadier’s Club” with the image and spelling of the name making a pun on the name of the club sponsor Granada Cinema. Top curl reads “By Permission Of Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Ltd.” Where the variety part comes in is that on this example the name “Donald Duck” appears at the lower right. On our previous 4, his name did not appear on the button. In addition, the bottom curl of this button has text not seen on the other examples and reads “Thos. Fattorini Ltd. Regent St. B’Ham. I.” Button’s front surface shows stain marks largely around the perimeter and the surface is just a little uneven to the touch. Metal back has some oxidation plus stain dots around the collet. While condition is just Good to VG, the color remains unfaded and the surface is still fully glossy. The single example seen of this version.
