Item Description
This 1.25” button is one of the first 3 Tracy promotional items, all as buttons of various designs issued to promote the strips in leading cities of Chicago, Detroit and New York. This example, however, has a backpaper, first we’ve seen, reading on 7 lines “Read Dick Tracy Every Day In The Post-Standard-Don’t Miss Smitty And Orphan Annie.” The button was apparently issued by the newspaper located in Syracuse, NY. Button is N. Mint and displays Mint. With it comes a 2-5/8” tall thin aluminum sheet which makes a clicking sound when depressed. One side reads “Don’t Miss Reading ‘Tracy’ Column In The Press/Daily And Sunday.” Opposite side reads “Laugh With The Nebbs In The Press Every Sunday.” Since the word “Column” is used, most likely this item does not relate to the Dick Tracy comic strip but we’ve found the similar name interesting and the clicker does in fact promote The Nebbs Sunday comic. Tiny bit of general luster wear but item still clicks and is Fine. First we’ve seen. Pair -
