Item Description
This two-piece set was originally obtained at the Ward Kimball auction held Nov. of 2004 by Noel Barrett. Complete with pair of tags from that sale. It sold for approximately $2,500. Ward, inducted as a Disney Legend in 1989, joined the Disney Studios in 1934 and remained there until his retirement in 1972. He was one of Disney’s “Nine Old Men.” The pair is by Kroehler who produced a series of Disney figural furniture in the mid-1930s with other pieces including a rocker, chair and desk, shelving unit, etc. The large jigsawed wood table is 16x27x26” tall. Mickey is on one side, Minnie on the other and both have hands raised as if holding the top of the table in place. Comes with matching 10x22x17.5” tall bench which features Pluto’s front on one side and hind quarters on the other with plain wood seat between these 2 pieces. Both pieces have moderate scattered traces of wear and aging, mostly to extreme edges including some paint rubs, small wood chips/flakes, etc. Overall pair still Fine. A rare pair further enhanced by the fact they were once owned by a Disney Legend.
