This exceptional set is French, made by Desvres, a noted maker of Faience Pottery. An authorized item c. 1938, each with incised company name and hand-painted text “Par Authorisation De Walt Disney-Mickey Mouse S-A.” These massive, painted and glazed ceramic statues were designed to be used in a garden. Snow White is 16x16x31” while each Dwarf is about 9x12x24” tall. Thick, heavy ceramic with high gloss finish. Each has incised character name on back in French. Each very nicely detailed. All have some degree of wear and aging as these were once put to use as originally intended and displayed in a garden. Snow White has a 1” hairline on one wrist but o/w only a few minor chips. Grumpy, Bashful and Dopey also have only small chips and remain quite nice overall. All others have more notable scattered chips. Doc has repair to one foot while Sneezy has repair to foot and tip of beard. Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy and Bashful are VF. The others which show more wear are VG.
