Item Description
Published just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. 8.5x11" overall soft cover w/12 pages has nice front cover photo of pretty girl in Hawaiian clothes playing ukulele in garden setting. Contents include numerous activities in an around Schofield Barracks including sports, fishing, yachting, and surfing as well as photos of barracks buildings and field artillery activities. Back cover has nice cartoon map of "Island of Oahu". Centerfold has two wide photos, one of the signal company and the other of the aircraft warning group showing many soldiers smiling while sitting or standing. One page has printed roster w/list of soldiers. Another text page has menu for "Christmas Dinner 1941" including roast young turkey, giblet gravy, tuna fish salad, ice cream, w/cigars and cigarettes listed at bottom. Obviously dinner was canceled due to the attack on Pearl Harbor and this was published before the event; no doubt some of the men shown in these photos were lost in the sneak attack.
