Item Description
6" x 15" polished marble with brass name plate in center with text "L. W. Morrison Nike Round 92 24 April 1952 White Sands Proving Ground" has Plexiglas on top portion over three photos. Comemmorates first successful test of Nike Missles. Photos are successive showing plane being hit by missile, exploding and disintegrating. Morrison eventually became director of the Guided Missile Development Program at the Nike Hercules base in Maryland and was obviously involved with this operation at White Sands. Trace of lt. scattered wear, brass nameplate has a bit of wear around edges but otherwise display is VF. Historic item presented during the time of our Cold War w/Russia and Red China.
