Item Description
c.1885. 7.75x11-1/8" w/cardboard covers has choice front cover art of walruses and polar bears in icy setting. Cover opens to reveal wonderful 3-dimensional die-cut scene w/children looking through original cellophane "glass" window at sea life in aquarium. Just above aquarium and background is pleasant outside waterfall scene w/wooden bridge and foliage. At bottom, which is inside back cover, is "The Aquarium" four stanza poem. Book is from "The Little Showman's Series". Back cover has art for "Sample Page Of Our New Object Teaching Book-In Outline" available for 50¢. Covers have scattered wear around edges, w/some dust soil and a few scuffs most noticeable on back cover. Original owner has neatly written her name in ink just above poem area adding pencil date of December 25, 1885. A few letters of poem have been colored in lead pencil. Overall VG/Fine. Wonderful concept for the time period w/choice graphics.
