2.5 dia. by 6" cardboard cylinder with end cap and paper label. c. late 1930s. Repeated text at top reads "Every Morning/Every Morning..." In bright large blue/red letters "2¢ a day/Save 10¢ on Sunday/Don't read the Tribune/The voice of reaction and Fascism." Bottom text "Answer the mind-poisoning Colonel! Support the voice of progress!/Daily Record/192 North Clark Street, Chicago, Ill." "Colonel" refers to newspaper baron and Chicago Tribune owner Robert "Colonel" McCormick. Slot on top cover long enough at accept a penny or dime-apparently money saved by not reading Tribune was to be donated to the Communist newspaper "Daily Record." Surface dust/lt. handling wear to paper label. Canister retains original form overall. VF.
