Item Description
3.5x11.75x19.75" reproduction box which has been shrink wrapped and has window open to remove viewer which is 3x9" tall. 1960s made by Multiple Products Inc. Box has nice color images of "Werewolf (image of Lon Chaney Jr.), Creature, Frankenstein (image of Glenn Strange), Dracula (image of Bela Lugosi)." Also included w/item is an original 5.5x7.75" ad for the Horrorscope from "Famous Monsters of Filmland" magazine. Ad states specifications of viewer: "no bulbs, 9" tall, no batteries, hand-action complete w/four full edition films of Frankenstein-Creature-Dracula-Werewolf." Creature and Wolfman films are missing. This comes w/two series of four issued films, Frankenstein and Dracula. "Dracula's Return" features images from the classic 1931 Universal film starring Bela Lugosi and "Frankenstein's Revenge" features images from the classic 1931 film starring Boris Karloff. Each film is missing six double-sided cards for a total of 12 lost images. Since films are cranked in a flip book style, these missing images are barely noticeable. Missing from set are #17/18, 31/32, 33/34, 39/40, 49/50, 125/126. These flip cards have moderate scattered wear from use which is mostly confined to edges, small amount of creasing and are VG to mostly Fine. Viewer has obvious wear w/three small broken pieces, on handle, on base and on viewing aperture. Still functions and has original bat sticker w/text "Horrorscope" written between wings. Sticker has shifted 1/8" off original mounting area, scattered edge wear and some nicks. Viewer is VG. Ad is Exc. Only example we've ever offered. One of the most sought-after monster items of the 1960s.
