Item Description
Each is 5-3/8x8.25" with 52 pages counting the covers. Number 3 has front cover art of pretty brunette in skimpy leather outfit with stockings and high heels chained to a stand glancing to her side at smiling devil who is holding "Fashions 1946" booklet. Back cover has text "For Slaves Of Fashion, Achillies Theatrical Footwear" showing long spiked high heel. Contains include photos and art with various women in positions of jeopardy or wearing bondage style outfits. Includes art of woman in leather outfit holding whip looking at viewer, women wearing various spiked high heels, women in iron masks with art titled "Don't Nag", and well drawn two page comic style story "Sir D' Arcy D' Arcy-Episode 1". Centerfold photo has woman holding book close to her face wearing tall leather high heel boots with caption "A Beautiful Pair Of Boots By Achilles". Covers have trace of lt. dust soil, right side of front cover has a few handling creases along margin edge, top spine tip has tiny tear. Lt. pinch creases along spine. Fine/VF with Exc. contents. Issue number 4 has cover art of woman's feet with bound legs and tall spiked high heels. Contents are similar to issue number 3 including "Sir D' Arcy D' Arcy-Episode 2" two page story, but no centerfold photo as published. Covers have trace of lt. dust soil but overall VF with Exc. contents. John Willie (1902-1962) was a pioneering fetish photographer and bondage artist. In the mid 1930s he began working for a Sydney-based fetish club as an illustrator and photographer. Around 1945-1947 he moved to New York City via Montreal in order to publish his bondage and fetish magazine "Bizarre". Bizarre was published somewhat irregularly from 1946-1959. The magazine included many photographs and drawing of costume designs. There were also many letters from readers covering interests such as high heels, bondage, sadomasochism, transvestism, corsets and body modification. Also see John Willie item #1860.
