Item Description
Sizes range from 9.75x12.5" to 9.5x13". Page count ranges from 12 to 16. Each is soft cover. Two Popeye titles are published by Whitman and numbered 892 and 944. Both are c.1935-1937. #892 has front cover art with Popeye carrying the Jeep and Swee’pea followed by Olive Oyl and Wimpy with Popeye, Wimpy and Swee’pea on back cover, has scattered cover color rubs with a few moisture marks. #944 has front cover art of Popeye and Wimpy watching Swee’pea fish from pier with back cover art of Swee’pea blowing soap bubbles which have images of Popeye, Olive Oyl and Wimpy, has some lt. cover dust soil but overall cover is Fine, inside is VF.. VG with Fine contents. “Porky Pigs Duck Hunt” is Saalfield #2178 Copyright 1938 Leon Schlesinger Corp. Front cover has art of sweating Porky with shotgun pointed directly at smiling duck who resembles an early version of Daffy as dog Fido sits alertly nearby. Story is told in prose with extremely well-drawn art likely by a Warner Bros. animator. Covers have heavy dust soil and spine top has .5" split. Inside blank margins have bit of lt. dust soil but overall covers are VG and contents are Fine. Nice group with wonderful graphics.
