Item Description
WWII. 16.75x18 5/8" wood frame with plexiglass holds 16x18" Skelly Oil premium printed in rwb on both sides. One side has war map of Pacific and Far East plus related color legend for determining U.S., British, Russian, or Japanese involvement or holdings. Reverse is very detailed pictorial and text definition of Navy warships, aircraft, sleeve insignias, maneuvers, world fleets. Double-sided frame is designed to show war map area on front with wire on reverse “Know Your Navy!” sign. Top of war map side has photo of Skelly news commentator Clifton Utley at NBC microphone with station list. Sheet has a few barely noticeable hairline folds as issued, corner tips have tiny holes, bottom of war map side has .75" stain and top has 1.25" vertical tear just to right of center.Still Fine as framed. Skelly is most notable as sponsor of both Captain Midnight & Jimmie Allen radio shows although no reference to either on this map. Still a nice go with for collectors of these two radio classics. Great design with much attention to detail. Ready for display.
