©1948 L.Rittgers. Both are hand painted plaster figures from caricature sports series. Golfer figure is 7" tall holding original metal club. Caddy figure is 5.5" tall looking puzzled and scratching his head. Right hand of golfer has been repaired, a few dots of missing color on hands and right elbow area. Golf clubs in caddy's bag are missing two tips. Overall bright and Fine. A scarce set. Lafayette Rittgers was born in 1904 and one of his earliest jobs was as a window decorator at a department store in Denver making paper mache figures for store displays. He and his wife moved to Chicago in 1937 and he started Rittgers Novelties in the late 1930s. By 1941 the company employed six people and the company stayed in business until 1956. A nicely designed scarce set.
