Item Description
3.5x4.5x1.25" deep nice quality hinged metal case with textured outer covering contains small battery operated radio by Topp, ©1966. A metal plate is on top of the case which reads "Batman Secret Super-Micro Radio" along with a bat symbol. Inside of case lid is an illustrated cardboard insert with additional text and a great image of Batman holding this very radio. Below him is Gotham City skyline. Bottom of case has silk-like fabric covering around cardboard insert designed to hold the radio. Slight aging to cardboard insert and fabric but hinged case remains Exc. The radio is 1x2.25x2" tall and has a chromed metal front, back is plastic and version in black. Front speaker cover has name plate. Both volume and tuning knobs on top are complete with insert discs. Attached by chain to one side is metal medallion with bat symbol on one side and text "Transistor Bat-Radio" on the other. This medallion is actually to be used to open the screw on back for battery placement. A special order battery (still available)is needed. Radio has not been tested and the terminal does exhibit a bit of corrosion. Otherwise interior is clean. Complete with the original earphone unit which appears unused as a vinyl band holds cord together. The radio is in choice condition with full, bright luster. Exc. Very rare and desirable, among the most sought after 1966 items. This is the first we have offered in our 45 years. From the Craig Warren Collection.
