Item Description
5.25”x8.5” die-cut thin cardboard. Issued by Philadelphia Record Newspaper in 1943. Front of mask is Batman cowl with name across forehead (a variety also exists with additional theater imprint). Reverse features nice head and shoulder images of Batman and Robin with text “Introducing Batman and Robin.” Text below reads “Follow Their Amazing, Prodigious Adventures! Now In The Philadelphia Record Daily & Sunday.” At each “ear” there is an image of the Batplane and Batmobile. Along bottom are images showing Batman and Robin in action. Reverse lightly aged. Minor bend at die-cut nose. Tiny corner tip wear on the "ears", one with an additional very faint 1" crease. Fine. These masks are very rare, we have only offered a few over our 45 years and previous examples have sold for as much as $3,600.
