Item Description
Large and impressive 32.25x46" frame contains 27x41" theatrical one-sheet poster for 1924 Alice Comedy. Alice Comedies were ground-breaking in their blending of live action actors (namely Alice - played here by Virginia Davis) and cartoon animation. This production in particular dealt with Alice being punished at school by sitting in a corner with dunce's cap, where she quickly begins to daydream. Poster features photo image of Alice running away from horned teacher and evil anthropomorphic "Reading, Writing Arithmetic," etc. books. She is seen joined here by Julius the Cat (seen on all fours, Julius later became bi-peddle) and unnamed dog character. Scattered professional restoration along margins to tears and along original fold line between Julius and dog which has some professional color touch-ups. A few scattered color touch-ups also done in blue area of poster but overall appearance remains clean and VF. One of the earliest Disney posters known to exist and the only copy of this particular poster extant.
