Item Description
Late teens-early 1930s. Sizes range from 2.25x3.5" to 3.5x5.5". Pair of postcards, one English and one French, have moving google eyes. Fine. Mechanical card is a 1919 premium from McCormick-Thomas Coal Company Inc. Ardmore, PA. Die-cut card is designed to be squeezed so Charlie's eyes go from regular to crossed. Fine. Vari-Vue items are both pre-1920s in scarce postcard format and smaller push/pull version. Both feature same image of Charlie poking woman on her behind with cane. Cinematograph envelope with Chaplin on cover has wooden frame holding black lined screen along with five sheets to insert and pull back and forth to produce optical illusion. The illusion works well and image strips include Mickey Mouse, hunter on elephant, boxers, etc. Paper wrapper is VG. Frame has slight warp, not affecting operation. Fine. Interesting group with nice graphics.
