Item Description
Largest item in our photo at left is 5.75" large and heavy tin whistle inscribed on the top "American Flyer/Train Whistle No. 1/Made In U.S.A." Silver flashing is mostly gone but no other damage. This seems to be from the 1930's and does indeed produce a train whistle sound. The next item and the smallest in the group is black hard plastic whistle 2.5" long with a metal insert on one side bearing the initials of the Pennsylvania Rail Road. This seems to be an official company issue. General wear and with a narrow scuff line in the plastic on the underside but still Fine. Next are a pair of identically formed whistles in the shape of a locomotive. Each is 3.25" long with one in brown plastic and one in black plastic. Last is a 3" white plastic locomotive whistle with somewhat worn lettering on one side "Illinois Railway Museum/Union, Illinois."
