Item Description
This exceptionally long 11.5" tall ribbon badge starts at the top with brass bar pin enclosing celluloid insert picturing firemen plus symbols along with the maker W&H. Below is the background ribbon in blue with large gold text "Union Fire Co. No.1/Oxford, Pa/Instituted Feb. 6, 1871." The overlaid white ribbon is 3" tall joining to an exceptionally ornate 2" brass shell frame with a gorgeous color 1-1/16" celluloid at the center showing an early steam powered pumper. A similar machine is pictured on the ribbon itself in gold beneath a pair of American flags with rwb rippling fabric as if they are blowing in the breeze. An incredible ribbon in N. Mint condition. Reverse is designed in black and silver for funerals of comrades. While there is no issued date we would place it around 1900.
