Item Description
1.5" made of white metal with an exceptionally high rim on both obverse and reverse. Front pictures him standing next to various objects such as a book, wine bottle, goblet and egg cup. Text above "Charles S. Stratton Known As Genl Tom Thumb/51in. Hgh." Bottom edge has name of the engraver "J. Moore" and abbreviation for the city Birmingham. Reverse shows carriage in miniature size drawn by miniature horses with text above "General Tom Thumb's Equipage/The Equipment Cost Upwards Of 400 Guineas." Below are various statistics regarding the size of the carriage, ponies, etc. At the very bottom of this text is the text "Pub. By P.T. Barnum." Likely from the time of Stratton's final appearance in England in 1878. Couple of faint and tiny hairline scratches on obverse background and very small rim dent on bottom reverse edge.
