Item Description
This and the following two dolls are c. 1931 and from the rare Aesop's Fables Movie Dolls series. Their Disney connection lies in the fact that Walt Disney took legal action against the Van Buren Corporation for plagiarizing Mickey by creating a look-alike character by the name of Milton Mouse (in our last auction we offered an Aesop's Fables book that featured this character and in fact, the book was very similar to the first Mickey book by Bibo & Lang). This doll is 14" tall stuffed velveteen with felt ears. Painted facial features. This character also has a very similar look to Mickey, but has pointy ears. However, at some point, someone added Mickey-like round ears, stitching them to the original pointy ears. This is only noticeable when viewed closely and these could be removed. Moderate scattered wear/aging including some spotting on face. Minor .5" fabric split on front just under where head is attached. VG. See button set with Aesop's Fables characters #1640. From the Bruce Cervon Collection.
