Item Description
Stiff cardboard 12.75x15.5" with artwork at top showing young girls and boys most wearing beanies accented by buttons. Upper left text proclaims "Collect Em!/Swap Em!/Save Em!/Wear Em!" In addition there is a large "1¢" and the slogan "A Smile On Every Face." Below are pinned 144 .75" litho buttons with text at the bottom naming the company "Green Duck Co. Chicago." While the buttons are mostly Mint as made about 40 of them have some paint mark apparently caused by a piece paper that once laid on top and left some residue. In most cases a little moisture will remove the paper traces but on a dozen or so the paint is actually blistered and worn. Still vast majority display Mint or close to it. While some slogans and/or designs repeat themselves in most cases the repeats are in a different color combination although there are just a small number of actual duplicates. The card has a couple of very minor creases on the bottom corner tips but displays totally clean. There is a hairline 1" tear on the upper edge showing little and a very fine crease through two letters of the title "Snappy Sayings" but again showing little. Quite an unusual group showing how buttons were retailed. Circa 1950.
