Auction #202 - Part II
Item numbers 1554 through 3213 in auction 202
Item Description
First is original mailing envelope 8.25x10.25" showing return address of sponsor Quaker Oats Company. Very minor wear and VF. Second is a sheet of thin paper we have never seen before. This 7.75x7.75". It was extremely wrinkled as it was wrapped around the "Pilot's Mascot Button" but we have carefully flattened it and added a couple of small pieces of archival tape to a few tears (on the reverse). Button has diagram and text showing how to wear the button by means of a safety pin. The primary premiums here are an 8x10 full color photo of a "North American B-25 Army Bomber" flying high above snow accented mountain peaks. This has a shield at the lower right inscribed "Shield Of Honor" and the name of the person ordering this has been typed in "Joe Gura." Additional text reads "This Certifies That The Name Of (typed entry) And Good Luck Message To The Pilot Have Been Sent Along To War In A North American B-25 Army Bomber" followed by the facsimile signature of the "President of North American Aviation Inc." The picture is quite scarce and N. Mint with a tiny 1/8" indent on lower edge of the plane where button loop pressed against the paper, but barely showing. The button itself is highly domed painted wood 1-1/8" dia. with front text "Pilot's Mascot/North American B-25 Army Bomber." Paint has pinpoint brown speck on the upper edge of the blue but is basically Mint as issued. From the Joe Gura Premium Collection. Our first seen totally complete.
