Front reads “Jeff In The Patent Union Neck Tie./Jeff.-My Neck’s in a Tight Place. My Winds Stopped, I’m Done./Scott-You’ve Now Got A ‘Neck Tie,’/And A ‘Choker’ In One.” Caption on second envelope reads “The End Of ‘King Cotton’/Behold Me Dangling Up And Down,/ In A Hemp Tie ‘Stead Of A Cotton Crown./Neither My Leg Bail Nor Cotton Bale/Could Save Me From The Coffin’s Nail-/And Here I Swing, In The Air Suspended,/And At The Rope’s End Treason’s Ended.” Very minor age traces.
