Item Description
1.5" wide 1.5" tall overall cast metal with great detail. Possibly sterling but certainly silver plated. ©R.O.P. c. early 1970s. Light tarnish but Exc. Interesting artifact from hippie/underground comix heyday. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers are a trio of underground comic strip characters created by Gilbert Shelton. Their first comic book appearance was in Feds n' Heads published by Berkeley's Print Mint in 1968. In 1969 Shelton and three friends from Texas founded Rip Off Press in San Fransisco which took over publication of all subsequent Freak Brothers comix. The series was published from Feb. 1970 to 1997 with a total of 13 issues and is currently being adapted into a claymation movie called Grass Roots. Raised arms provide perfect perch for newly rolled joint.
