Item Description
3.5" dia. with three layers of felt designed for wiping ink from pen points. There are some ink marks around the outer edge of the beige color layer but overall the piece has seen little use. The 1.5" celluloid at center has pair of metal prongs on the reverse which join it to the felts. Pictured is high-top woman's shoe with text "J. Richardson & Co. Elmira, N.Y. Fine Footwear Stylish & Perfect Fitting." Curl has name of maker W&H along with "Pat. Applied For" making this one of the very earliest celluloids designed for use on a pen wipe. c. 1900s. See additional shoe items for Buster Brown in the Entertainment section. Celluloid is Mint. First we've seen.
