Item Description
c. 1890s tin match box with hinged lid and text on front lower panel "The Diamond Match Company." Box is 2-1/8x1.5x5/8" thick. Bottom and sides of the box are finished in brass luster and underside has a panel for striking the wooden matches. The top of the piece has wonderful scene outdoors with a downpour being ignored by the fisherman seated by the water's edge holding his rod in one hand and holding his umbrella in the other while his whiskey bottle prominently protrudes from a pouch at his side. About a dozen tiny scattered paint flakes are off but these are quite small with all being 1/16" or less. Also some small golden luster loss from the underside but overall condition remains clean and Fine. Only example we've seen.
