Item Description
3.5" tall tin litho marked "Made In Japan," 1930s. Same design appears on each side. Unauthorized use of three of the biggest stars of the 1930s. Center features boy and girl and girl bears strong resemblance to Shirley Temple. Around this is simulated filmstrip for cartoon featuring a sea adventure involving Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop both with word balloons featuring Japanese text. They start off in a rowboat which tips over and Mickey goes under water to confront and octopus who squirts ink in Mickey's face, both he and Betty Boop eventually end up riding on the back of a fish. All over obvious wear/aging including surface oxidation on the handle and bottom. Sides have all-over scattered tiny paint nicks/marks and a number of indents although mostly only visible in reflected light. Bottom rim also has small trace of oxidation with some paint loss. However, outside still retains a somewhat glossy appearance and color remains vibrant. VG. First we've seen.
