Item Description
The hanger bar is 1.25" reading on the front "Our Country." On the reverse is the hand engraved name of the original owner "C A Straub." Suspended below is 1.25" high quality brass medal showing a naked man with a sheathed sword covering his groin as he faces a robed woman placing a laurel wreath on his head. To the right are the dates "1914/1919" and the woman holds an oval shield reading "Brotherhood Of Locomotive Firemen And Enginemen." At far left a locomotive steams down the tracks. The back of the piece has small images of crossed American and Canadian flags with outer edge of the medal reading "Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen" and inner text enclosed in a wreath "Presented By Grand Lodge To Members In Grateful Recognition Of A Duty Well And Cheerfully Performed." Tiny mark of maker W&H. NM and rare.
