Item Description
First is 4" tall badge with "Souvenir" hanger holding gold on blue ribbon "Firemen's Tournament Hagerstown Md. June 6-9 1905." This has loop suspending Maltese cross with brass medallion at its center picturing Theodore Roosevelt on the front and with reverse having the Lord's Prayer in tiny text. Back of ribbon has minor .25" split but all else is Exc. The celluloid buttons range between 1.25" and 2". The ribbons on four items range from 3.5" to 4". The yellow and black ribbons have a couple of horizontal creases but remain clean, the other two ribbons show significant wear. The first button with large initials "MSFA" represent "Maryland State Firemen's Association." This once held a ribbon but it was shredded although we could decipher a 1910 date. Tiny hairline gray mark upper left but rest is Exc. Next are a pair of 1.25" buttons. First reads "Firemen's Celebration." Coloring around the man is printing not stain. However this is an unusual piece with no metal backing but instead there is a circular collet and to this is clamped the brass rope frame. VF. Second 1.25" reads "Sons Vet. Vol. Firemen's Ass'n Baltimore." Light stain around the perimeter but very nice design of early pumper. Next is 1.5" "United For One Cause" showing firemen shaking hands with Fort McHenry in the background. Superb color. Dated for a 1910 Baltimore convention. Next is 1.75" wonderful color showing firefighters and equipment fighting a raging building fire. This is dated for 1908 convention. Third is same design as one of the 1.25" buttons but this one has only the slightest trace of age. It also has the ribbon worn but readable "Sons Vet. Vol. Firemen's Association." Last is wonderful color button with large stickpin reverse and tabbed on brass rope frame. The ribbon below is nearly totally split through but still has readable text and is dated for convention in 1904. A very nice group with some great color buttons.
