Item Description
Each of these is 1.25" with backpaper naming maker W&H but with larger text promoting products of the American Pepsin Gum Co. This first one names the product "El Capitan Chewing Gum." This has gorgeous color scene of man in striped full-body bathing suit holding a woman as they stand in shallow ocean waters. Beautiful and essentially Mint. The second button promotes "Cameo Pepsin Gum." This backpaper has some ripples with small paper spot missing at center. Also the cello along the collet has a 1.5" long cello split. In addition the front of the button at top has hairline dark .25" age mark and on far right a .5" narrow sliver of cello came off but has been neatly glued back into place. In spite of the damage this is a most unusual button in that it is a real photo, without dot pattern, of the youngest African-American we've ever seen on a button. She is a little chubby, has her eyes wide open and is smiling as the camera captured her image. There is also a small brown mark by her left hand. Still the vast majority displays clean and glossy. A rare pair.
