Item Description
Each is 9x12" with art throughout by Edwina. All are published by Boston Music Company w/ words and music by Helen Thomas. Dates and titles are: 1944 “Tippie And The Circus” with nice art with Cap Stubbs acting like ringmaster w/ Tippie jumping through hoop w/ large circus poster in background, 1946 “Tippie’s Christmas Carol” w/ Stubbs and Tippie sitting on Santa’s lap surrounded by toys including Tippie’s stuffed animal in one sack, 1947 “Tippie And The Hurdy-Gurdy” w/ art of Cap Stubbs and Tippie dancing to Hurdy-Gurdy Man, 1948 “Tippie’s Love Song” w/ image of Tippie in center of large heart surrounded by other hearts w/ text “I Love You Yes I Do”, 1950 “Tippie’s Halloween Serenade” w/ Tippie being frightened by jack-o-lantern w/ Cap Stubbs and girlfriend in background walking past fence which has black cat on top w/ witch and bats flying in nighttime sky. Back cover art includes Tippie and Cap Stubbs w/ balloon, Tippie and Cap Stubbs helping Santa Claus go down chimney and Tippie wearing blue ribbon. Back cover of last title has nice blue tone photo of Bob Smith of Howdy Doody with facsimile signature “Hi There!-Be Sure To Listen To Me Singing Tippie’s Halloween Serenade Bob Smith”. Trace of lt. dust soil and a few minor creases here and there but overall group is VF/Exc. a nice group for this lesser known but well done strip.
