Item Description
All are 9x12" w/ page count ranging from four to six. Dates and titles are: 1940 “Li’l Abner” w/ art of Abner and Daisy Mae running along w/ Salomey The Pig w/ Mammy and Pappy and Hairless Joe at left side and photo at upper right from feature film, 1940 “Sadie Hawkins Day” with image of father holding early pistol trying to get men to marry his homely daughter, 1946 “Li’l Abner Don’t Marry That Girl!!” w/ Abner looking stubborn w/ Daisy Mae pleading behind him and Salomey in background, 1956 “Li’l Abner An Original Musical Comedy” w/ Abner and Salomey running followed by Daisy Mae and other characters from strip, and 1956 “I’m Lonesome And Disgusted!!!” w/ image of Long Sam swooning w/ thin singer holding his stomach at microphone in background. Art is based on the Al Capp and Bob Lubbers “Long Sam” comic strip. Second title has small music store ink stamp at lower right of front cover, third title has small tan mark at lower right corner from price sticker removal, fourth title has several inside lyrics added in lead pencil by original owner. Still Fine/VF appearance. Nice art. A nice group w/some scarce examples.
