Auction #204 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1446 in auction 204
Item Description
12x14" stiff cardboard sheet ink signed lower right corner "J.W. Carl Of Dayton O." Mounted is beautiful sharp photo 7.5x9.5". Great view of crowd lined street, people in many windows of buildings, trolley tracks, policemen, bunting, flags, etc. In front row of marchers, man at right carries large banner. It has raised lettering and the words "Cox" and "Ohio" are clear. Between the two, the word may read "With." Above the banner, suspended from second story of a building is a huge white banner with most of his portrait clearly visible and name below "James M. Cox." A second identical banner is in the distance in the previous city block. This is obviously a huge event in Dayton and almost certainly an event tied to his 1920 presidential campaign. Only trivial aging on the front. Couple minor edge stains on the back. Displays beautifully. Likely unique.
