Item Description
First is 9x12" 36-page "Airships Trans Atlantic Transportation/U.S. Naval Air Station Lakehurst, N.J./Summer 1936" program. This program marks the first arrival of the famous air ship to Lakehurst. It was this aircraft at this location less than one year later that exploded in a now historic tragedy. The Hindenburg was the largest aircraft ever to fly. Program contents show extensive photos/stats/articles of its construction and ultra modern features. Rare, especially considering the historic events that were soon to follow with its demise. Cover Fine. Contents VF. Comes with 1.25x1-3/8" fob with raised image of airship and text "Duralumin Used In The Airship 'Akron' Made By The Goodyear Zeppelin Corporation Akron, Ohio." Duralumin was the material that Goodyear developed for manufacturing airships. Fob Fine. Interesting and historic pair.
