Auction #184 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 952 in auction 184
Item Description
This and items through #428 are all from the same left-wing New York City area collection assembled in the mid-1930s to mid-1940s. This 3.5" celluloid had an easel wire on back, now missing but easily replaceable. Probably CPUSA issue from time of Lenin's death in 1924. Only text is "October 1917" showing Lenin gesturing and speaking w/two workers in bkg. holding large red flag. Surface has six small raised cello bumps on front where the openings for easel wire are positioned on the back. Bumps catch reflected light along w/a few ft. hairline scratches. Right side edge has trivial 1/16" cello split across the curl plus .25" split along edge fold but this blends and barely shows. Overall displays clean and glossy. Only example we know of. Rare.
